Stuck? Most problems are one of these.
Callstage Camera doesn't show up in my call app
- Make sure Callstage is in your Applications folder and that you opened it once. macOS only loads camera extensions from Applications.
- Allow the extension: System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions (or Privacy & Security on older macOS), then turn on Callstage Camera.
- Quit and reopen your call app. Most apps only look for cameras when they start.
Callstage asks me to restart
When an update changes the camera extension, macOS keeps running the old one until the Mac restarts. Restart when it's convenient; until then Callstage behaves like the previous version. Most updates don't need this.
The call shows colour bars
That's Callstage telling the call your camera is switched off in Callstage. Turn it back on with the camera switch in Callstage. If the app still shows "Callstage Camera is off", turn your video off and on again in the call app.
My banner looks backwards
Your own preview is mirrored by apps like Zoom and Photo Booth. Everyone else sees it the right way round.
A text layer shows nothing
For a command, try it in Terminal first: Callstage runs it in your login shell, and shows its first lines of output. A command that takes longer than 10 seconds is stopped.
Switching to the App Store version
The first time you open the App Store version, it moves your Callstage scene, brand kit and media into the App Store app's own storage. If you later go back to the downloaded version, it starts empty — so before switching, save your brand kit with Brand → Export Kit… in Callstage; you can bring it back with Import Kit….
Contact
Email support@callstage.app. In Callstage, Help → Send Feedback… starts an email with your Mac and app details filled in, and Settings → About → Copy diagnostics copies the details we'll ask for.
